RACE TO EFFICIENCY.
Only a few weeks to go until our entire office gathers in front of a screen, eagerly watching the five Olympic rings and hoping deep down for a medal sensation. Because then it will become clear what Maloja has been working on for months. Design. Production. Editing. Marketing. There is hardly a department that is not involved in sponsoring the US biathlon team. And so it goes without saying that we want to be there live when this work becomes visible. In front of a global audience of millions. At the Olympic Games.
The fact that we can produce all of our sponsored products at our own facility in Bulgaria is something special. Anyone familiar with the industry knows that it is not uncommon for design data to be sent around the world, with samples arriving in the mail a few months later. When Maloja took over Viomoda completely five years ago, this was not only a clear commitment to Europe as a production location, but also a conscious decision against this process. Together with Viomoda, we can make this process shorter and more personal. The company knows what is important when it comes to racing suits, and our designers are in direct contact with the production team in Bulgaria. Despite the distance, communication is short!
Precision with every movement
With over 50 items, it is above all the racing suit with its many technical details that takes center stage in the collection. Working closely with athletes and drawing on the experience gained in recent years, Maloja has developed a product that can meet the special challenges of the highly varied sport of biathlon.
Aerodynamic materials and taped seams contribute to running times – rubber nubs on the elbows and upper arms, or sewn-in pockets for the race transmitter (a novelty in the world of biathlon, by the way) ensure that the perfectly rehearsed movements during shooting run smoothly.
Road to Antholz
But above all, these are exciting times for the entire US Biathlon team – because long-term investments are beginning to pay off. After winning two silver medals at the World Championships in Lenzerheide, a medal at the Olympic Games is definitely within reach for Campbell Wright. The New Zealand native has won the hearts of biathlon fans not least because of his unconventional and likeable manner and consistent sporting results.
But anyone who thinks this is a one-man show is mistaken. The team focuses on consistency, promotes young talent, and establishes them in the world of professionals. Luci Anderson is the best example of this development. Having only switched from cross-country skiing to biathlon in 2023, the 25-year-old finished a strong 21st in the 7.5km sprint in Oberhof last week – shortly after officially securing her place in the Olympic team.
Maloja has been a proud partner of US Biathlon since 2018. The upcoming competitions in Antholz will be the second joint Olympic Winter Games. We couldn't be prouder! Let's go for gold!
