Where do you produce Maloja Products?
We do not produce where it is the cheapest, but rather where we have partners. Most our production partners are small to medium sized companies that have active owner/operators.
With many of these companies upwards of 75% of their production capacity is Maloja product and 90% of the partners we work with have been with us since the founding of Maloja. All of this underscores our goal to have long-term production partners and in doing so these relationships enable us to live up to our own production and sustainability standards.

PERCENTAGE DISTRIBUTION OF PRODUCT QUANTITIES PER COUNTRY
OVERVIEW OF THE PRODUCTION COUNTRIES

PRODUCTION IN EUROPE
70% of our production is in Europe.
Portugal: Cotton has a long and dated history of production in Portugal. We cooperate with approximately seven family run Portuguese companies. A Maloja staff member coordinates and supervises the processes on site. At these locations we primarily produce our streetwear such as T-shirts, Sweatshirts and Jeans.
Italy: The majority of our cycling apparel is produced in Italy, as Italy is synonymous with technical apparel and chamois production. In addition to cycling items our fleece items are also produced in Italy.
Bulgaria: Since 2014 Maloja has been a 50% owner of a textile facility named Viomoda located in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The majority of our functional wear is produced in its facilities. At Viomoda we have invested in the most modern machinery available to textile manufactures and have employed a staff of over 270 detailed orientated employees that enable us to continually test, improve and produce the most innovative products directly in-house.
Germany: From our first collection we have continued to produce wool beanies with a German based partner.
Netherlands:Our bicycle bottles are manufactured in the Netherlands.
Romania: Bike gloves are manufactured in Romania.
PRODUCTION IN ASIA
Approximately 30% of our products are from Asia.
The majority of our functional materials (Down-proof products, two or three layered textiles) are produced in Asian countries that include South Korea, Japan and Taiwan. Brining these materials to final production is achieved through assembly in China. By managing our production in Asia this way, we are able to minimize transportation time, costs and ultimately impact on the environment by keeping all aspects of Asian production in Asia.
China: We work with manufacturers that are specialized in functional material assembly (Down-proof fabrics, two & three layer textiles). The Chinese are well respected for their expertise in state-of-the-art machinery in addition to their highly skilled work force. The working conditions in China are comparable to those in Europe and complimentary to this all our partner companies are obliged to adhere to our code of conduct that is based upon UN and ILO (International Labor Organization) conventions.
Vietnam: Backpacks and bags are made in Vietnam.
PRODUCTION IN AFRICA
Tunisia: In Tunisia, we work together with a partner for denim production.
PRODUCTION IN SOUTH AMERICA
Bolivia: We work with the Wipalla social project in In El Alto Bolivia. The affiliated knitting group knits jumpers, hats and headbands made of alpaca wool for us.
TRANSPARENCY: AN OVERVIEW OF ALL MALOJA SEWING FACTORIES
A major and significant part of our production takes place in sewing factories, based in Germany, Portugal, all the way to China. We know the operations at all of the sewing factories inside out, and we've worked with many of them for a long time. In these factories, high standards for on-site work conditions and excellent product quality go hand in hand. Trust, appreciation and transparency are key cornerstones of this cooperation. With this comprehensive list of all sewing factories, we'd like to continue to maintain this transparency that is incredibly important to us:
